Yesterday, CF Rail Services broke ground on a new, state-of-the-art, 60,000-square-foot finishing work center at our Meridian, Mississippi railcar repair facility. It’s scheduled to be completed by year end and will make Meridian’s service offering even more efficient. The new work center will be able to handle all aspects of railcar finishing, including interior and exterior blasting and interior and exterior coating. When completed, it will meet current demand and be scalable to meet future increased demand if needed. It will house nine car positions to enable blasting, (interior and exterior) coating, stenciling, assembly and rinse, and final quality inspections.
At the center of the operation, there will be a transfer table that makes all work positions completely accessible 100 percent of the time, and that can transfer railcars from all the tracks within the facility without interruption.
This is an example of our CF Rail Services commitment to relentless improvement and our dedication to stewardship—our company’s primary purpose. Stewardship, the act of protecting, preserving, and enhancing, guides everything we do at CF Rail Services. When our new finishing center is complete, this significant investment will benefit our customers, our employees, Lauderdale County, Mississippi/West Alabama, and our business now and well into the future.
Along with the leadership of Sasser Family Holdings, our parent company, and the rest of CF Rail Services leadership, I couldn’t be more excited about what this means for our Meridian team and the customers we serve at our facility there. We will share updates on our progress throughout the project both here and on our LinkedIn page. Contact me or any member of our team to learn how our bullheaded commitment to perfection can benefit your business.
